THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hamada of Japan Restaurant Review:
Large paper fans, parasols and samurai swords announce the Asian theme of Jay Hamada's restaurant, which features a 16-seat sushi bar. Kimono clad servers and knife-wielding chefs work their magic at the teppan tables, where guests watch them cook the shrimp, lobster, marinated chicken, beef and vegetables. Try the chef's "Love Boat" for two---California roll, egg roll, shu mai (steamed pork dumpling), tempura, cubed beef shish kebab, chicken teriyaki and fruit. Traditional Japanese offerings of udon and soba noodles are cooked properly and made to be slurped. Donburi bowls feature items such as tempura shrimp, breaded pork cutlet or chicken and egg over steamed rice, served with pickled vegetables. Pricey Kobe beef is also offered.
