The glass-enclosed Hanna's, located on a corner surrounded by trees and featuring a hidden outdoor garden for dining and parties, is a key destination on San Rafael’s West End. Owner Hanna Anki serves Middle Eastern dishes as well as Italian pastas and entrées. Try the mezze plate featuring creamy baba ghanouj, warm ful madames (mashed fava beans with oil and garlic), hummus (topped with sizzling pine nuts) and falafel. The fattoush salad is a mélange of toasted pita bread wedges, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and feta, napped with a mint-red wine vinaigrette. For entrées, the chicken or lamb kebab dishes, both served with fluffy saffron rice and a spear of broccoli, are good bets.
