HMS Bounty
Old-school bar and restaurant that has survived decades of change.
HMS Bounty Restaurant Review:
This old-school restaurant and bar on the edge of Koreatown---think lots of wood, cozy leather booths, prominent bar---has been here, in the lobby of the once-chic Gaylord Apartments, since Wilshire Boulevard was glamorous. Stubborn loyalists start with shrimp cocktail or shrimp Louie salad before moving on to scampi or sautéed sand dabs. We recommend, however, sticking to a Monte Cristo sandwich or some rather respectable fish ‘n’ chips. The menu at this old survivor also offers some unremarkable, but very friendly-priced steak options. The real attraction for the Bounty’s eclectic clientele is the bar, which is what might be endearingly called a dive (not necessarily a criticism). These types of establishments are part of Wilshire Boulevard history and we’re glad the Bounty remains.
