THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hofstetter's Spargel Cafe Restaurant Review:
One of the few German restaurants in Dallas, Hofstetters is a pleasant change of pace, and its minimalist décor, with carefully chosen art pieces, makes you feel like youre taking a mini vacation. They specialize in cooking veal, pork, and sausage, and our favorite is the jager schnitzel, a sautéed veal cutlet in a brandied mushroom cream sauce, served with the tiny dumplings called spaetzle. A close second is the weinerschnitzel, breaded, fried veal cutlet (adding a squeeze of lemon really underscores the flavors,) served with some good crusty potatoes. The grilled pork loins another winner, topped with caraway gravy and served with braised red cabbage and fried polenta. At lunch, a good choice is the all season salad of green apples, Gorgonzola, endive, and toasted walnuts, followed by bratwurst, sauerkraut, and potato salad. Desserts a no-brainer---apple strudel with its warm vanilla sauce.
