THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hong Kong Palace Restaurant Review:
Changes to the name, menu and chef have transformed this quirky little eatery into a---believe it or not---Szechuan food destination with authentic fare, some of which is almost too hot to handle, even for devout chili lovers. The menus are dizzyingly long, and to complicate decision-making, the restaurant offers two, one for the amateurs and one for the enthusiasts. If you fall among the latter, you’ll find yourself sorting through such offerings as Chengdu spicy cold noodles, fish with pickled vegetable soup, stir-fried bullfrog with pickled pepper, and braised ox P (not spelled out) with fresh garlic. We can recommend the Tiger Skin peppers, the ultimate in searingly hot chilies; the bean sheet noodles; the camphor-smoked duck, gleaming and crispy; and the double-cooked pork with garlic leaves. If you like authentic cooking and crave the unusual, this is your place.
