THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Il Lido Restaurant Review:
This is a very friendly place---and easy to drive right by. It sits, looking somewhat scruffy from the outside, on the dusty side of a major beach thoroughfare. The front yard is unpaved parking, adding to the beach-y feel. And one of the owners, or the chef, might be taking a break on the outdoor patio, ready to greet every diner with charm and casual friendliness. Inside, the restaurant is intimate and well-appointed, with linen, china and glass service. The menu is creative and untypical of area Italian restaurants. Try the calamari fra diavolo, bay squid cooked in a garlic marinara sauce. Or the Italian wedding soup of petite meatballs, pastina, spinach and chicken broth. Entrées range from chicken and pasta to seafood and beef. The filetto di manzo Siciliana offers grilled tenderloin with mushrooms, olives, capers and herbs in a wine sauce while the scungilli fra diavolo has conch in a spicy marinara sauce served over linguini. Once found, this is a restaurant to revisit.
