THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jae's Cafe & Grill Restaurant Review:
Owner Jae Chung has probably done more for Asian food in Boston than any one person, place, or restaurant---Chinatown included. Each of his four Jaes Café locations---five if you count his SOBO outpost in Southie---has its own swank look and an eclectic crowd to match. Equally dapper is the enormous menu, which manages to hopscotch between Korea, Thailand, and Japan while even managing a few fusion moves as well. At all locations the sushi is swimmingly fresh and the Korean staples (thatd be Jaes nationality) are assembled with intelligence. Order anything vegetarian, the beautifully balanced phad Thai, or the delicate shu mai and youll leave happy. Among the location-sensitive flourishes are a whole room dedicated to Korean barbecue and a Japanese teppenyaki chef at the three-story Stuart Street location.
