THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kayo Restaurant Review:
This small Japanese restaurant is decorated vaguely like a robata, or Japanese country inn. While it won’t woo any customers from Matsuhisa, it does offer a reasonably diverse menu of Japanese favorites at prices most diners will appreciate. Sushi, prepared behind a long wooden sushi bar, is generally reliable, and tempura, udon dishes and teriyaki are more than respectable. What distinguishes Kayo from your ordinary neighborhood Japanese restaurant is its fine selection of barbecued fish and vegetables from a second bar seating just a few patrons. From here the chef deftly grills Spanish mackerel, yellowtail collar or saké-marinated cod (some imported from Japan’s northern waters) robata-style.
