THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Cascata Restaurant Review:
Tucked downstairs in the Princeville Resort, overlooking stunning Hanalei Bay and the Na Pali coast, La Cascata has a beautiful dining room, with striking floral arrangements and an atmosphere that is both comfortable and romantic. Fortunately, the food matches the setting. The innovative Mediterranean menu relies heavily on local ingredients---purple Okinawan sweet potatoes, Big Island beef, Kona lobster, Kauai greens, tomatoes and goat cheese---and offers many tempting choices. For starters, the pan-seared scallops with wilted arugula, lobster bordelaise and ahi tartare on avocado with a lemon vinaigrette creatively showcase island delicacies. The rack of lamb, rubbed with herb and garlic, drizzled with a fig-infused balsamic jus and served alongside a creamy tomato polenta is a memorable example of the chef's skill. Other noteworthy choices are the black pepper-crusted duck breast on a savory sweet potato mash, and the shellfish-laden brodetto di pesce, served atop linguine. You must leave room for the light and delicate tiramisu for dessert, although the other offerings from the resort’s pastry chef are also pleasing, and large enough to share. Service is low-key and attentive; the extensive wine list is heavily Italian, as expected, but reasonably priced.
