THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Fougasse Restaurant Review:
La Fougasse provides the Twin Cities a new tradition, thanks to its warm and inviting interior that’s complete with fireplaces and a mosaic bar. Whether you’re here for lunch or dinner (the menu and prices are identical), the meal commences with pretzel-like, Provençal flatbread that’s sturdy and dense. For appetizers, twosomes should try one of the “Tasting Trees”---a lazy-Susan-type affair with three cold and three hot little platefuls of noshes per tree. The Mediterranean version includes items like cold, fresh shrimp tabbouleh, curried salmon, tuna tartare and warm Italian sausage slices tangled among roasted peppers. Entrées range from lovely pan-seared shrimp and asparagus risotto to rich osso buco and fragrant bouillabaisse. Pastries are made in-house, so don’t miss out when it comes to ordering dessert. Sample chocolate mousse encased in dainty triangles of sponge cake or a warm blueberry clafouti served with homemade basil ice cream, the latter of which affords the perfect after dinner mint-like note. Service is gracious and knowledgeable, and the ever-evolving wine list is well thought out.
