The owners of this cozy Italian restaurant are emigrants from Chicago, and their food offers much more sophistication than the usual neighborhood Italian restaurant in Phoenix.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Locanda Restaurant Review:
La Locanda is one of those small, nondescript-looking restaurants that make food---not décor---its most memorable attribute. The menu features antipasti, carpaccio di salmone al pesto, black and green mussel soup and jumbo tiger shrimp sautéed in a delicate Cognac sauce with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and artichoke hearts. The Insalata Ricca, composed of arugula, Bosc pears, walnuts and prosciutto in mustard vinaigrette, is very satisfying. La Locanda is famous for its osso buco alla Milanese, as well as its inspired risottos. You may also order chicken, veal chop or pasta tinted with squid ink. Service is excellent and there is a fine wine list.
