La Marmite is housed in a turn-of-the-century Victorian mansion in Williston Park, and though time has passed it has continued to serve French and Italian dishes with consistency in an elegant, peaceful atmosphere. An extensive menu offers local Long Island seafood --- think clams, oysters and tartare, and also cooked up in traditional European recipes like sole meunière, cappellini with lobster-tomato sauce, and Scottish salmon with savoy cabbage. Meat-eaters will enjoy the crispy duck, New York strip and braised osso buco. The wine list has more than 100 selections to complement your meal.
