THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS LaSalette Restaurant Review:
A native of the Azores, Manny Azevedo worked at the Kenwood Restaurant before finally getting back to his roots. LaSalette, named for his mother, is the only place in the wine country you’re likely to encounter Portuguese food, let alone dishes inspired by African and Brazilian cuisines. The menu ranges from an elegant stuffed squid to cataplana, a fragrant stew of tomatoes and mussels served peasant style with homemade bread to sop up the broth. Other specialties include Mozambique prawns in a mélange of tomatoes and grilled plantains, and porco recheado, roasted pork tenderloin stuffed with olives, figs and almonds. Paintings and sculpture enliven the off-white walls in this small, upbeat restaurant.
