THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Last Supper Club Restaurant Review:
From Ruggero Gadaldi, of Pesce and Antica Trattoria, comes The Last Supper Club. This comfortable and flea-market chic spot pulls a lot of design tips from its sister spot: open kitchen with hanging pots, long bar for eating and drinking, and a burnt reddish interior that evokes a warm but edgy atmosphere. The corner windows offer a view of Valencia from the inside tables, while a line of tables slink along the side of the building down 23rd Street. The menu focuses on home-style Italian dishes with lots of pastas and salads. We loved the orecchiette with spicy sausage, broccoli rabe, and a sprinkling of breadcrumbs just as much as the rigatoni with sweet roasted cauliflower, capers and a shower of pecorino cheese. Eggplant Parmesan arrives at the table steaming and fragrant. Desserts are simple but delightful like the poached pear reclining atop a pillow of creamy rice pudding, or the Nutella fondue with toasted sponge cake and bananas for dipping.
