THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Cercle Restaurant Review:
Tucked away in a basement of a boutique hotel, Le Cercle is an attractive restaurant with a cheese room and a wine cellar by the entrance and a bar and restaurant beyond. This is a classy place, as is the cooking which you expect from the team of Club Gascon. Selections are themed (vegetables, fish, French farmhouse dishes, etc.) and you choose tapas-style portions from whatever section you prefer. So have Charolais beef tartare, duck foie gras, lemon-glazed cod and eel in aspic with mushroom casserole. Make sure you save room for desserts of the order of pear soufflé with Champagne sorbet or chocolate fondant with ginger ice cream, and, of course, top cheeses. It’s a fabulous way to eat and clearly a hit with the posh ladies of Chelsea. Service is professional and the wine list, mostly from the southwest of France, has many options by the glass. Set lunch including tea or coffee 4 courses £19.50. Set pre- and post-theatre dinner, including tea or coffee, 4 dishes £21.50.
