THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Midi Restaurant Restaurant Review:
San Antonians have long had a love-hate relationship with French food. Le Midi’s focus is on foods of Mediterranean France---dishes such as snapper a la tapenade, with its black olive crust, epitomize the fresh and light style of the region. When available, duck breast with olives in a lustrous sauce also reaffirms the chef’s delicate touch. We are less convinced by dishes such as a deconstructed civet de lapin that lacks the long-simmered familiarity of the classic stew. But a Brie and caramelized onion tarte with a tomato confit supplies comfort of a sophisticated sort in spades. Sadly, the place remains to be discovered by locals; there’s often more action on the street immediately outside the generous windows than within. Lunch has been reinstated, however, and a pleasant bar with a good selection of very creative cocktails should help, too.
