Le Papillon Restaurant Review:
Since its opening in 1977, through the advent and development of the Silicon Valley and subsequent, modernized dining scene, tasteful, intimate Le Papillon has remained a top destination and special occasion restaurant in the Santa Clara Valley. This well-established French restaurant seats guests in elegantly upholstered chairs as the cozy dining room flickers with candles on white tablecloths. Waiters are highly professional and the food is consistently extravagant. An extensive à la carte and changing tasting menus feature inventive dishes such as Dungeness crab soufflé with lemon, saffron and caviar; noisettes of red deer with Cabernet-truffle reduction and a parsnip tart; and sautéed Arctic char with ruby grapefruit and fennel-artichoke-butternut squash lasagna. The five-course prix-fixe dinner is a good deal, especially when paired with the suggested accompanying wines.
