THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lloyd's Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: White tablecloths and amber wood chairs warm up the dining room inside this longtime Loop restaurant, a spot for professionals to talk shop or grab a meal in between conference calls. With all the high-rise office buildings on and near Wacker Drive, the joint counts on the business crowd for most of its traffic, and Lyric Opera goers on Saturdays. Servers are friendly and fast.
Likes: Fast service. You won't have to move meetings around thanks to the efficient kitchen and wait staff.
Dislikes: The dining room lacks personality, but hey, this is the business centric-Loop.
Food & Drinks: Chicago-sized portions mean that you won't leave the restaurant craving more. Feast on American comfort food reflecting all regions, from crispy chicken and waffles to meaty Philly cheesesteaks. Chef's specials include a daily meatloaf with a side of fried onion rings and mashed potatoes plus a vegetable. Even the salads are sizeable; the seared tuna niçoise is value-packed with its loaded ingredients of red potatoes, grape tomatoes, green peppers, kalamata olives, boiled eggs, romaine and iceberg lettuce and croutons. Desserts mirror the classics --- think apple pie à la mode and sticky toffee pudding cake. Craft beer and a California-rich wine list bring guests in for happy hour.
