THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Lumpia, Pansit, atbp. Filipino Restaurant & Cafe Restaurant Review:
Although Filipino cooking is not prominent in the DC metro area, you can find a few outlets for this interesting Asian cuisine. One such goes by the unusual name of Lumpia, Pansit, atbp., and it’s located in a Rockville mall somewhat off the radar. But dedicated foodies should make an effort to sample this menu. A fairly well-stocked luncheon buffet offers neophytes the chance to explore this little-known cuisine. From the off-the-menu dishes, start with the lumpia (fresh or fried), the kare-kare (oxtail stew cooked in a peanut sauce) and chicken adobo, a popular dish with chicken cooked in a spicy vinegar-soy sauce. Filipinos really understand the sweet tooth, and that’s illustrated here with several puddings, steamed rice cakes, and a cassava cake made with coconut milk.
