THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Magic Carpet Restaurant Review:

For the jaded L.A. diners who think they’ve tried everything, or for the culinary adventurer, Magic Carpet is a treat. But stay away if you hate children, since the place is usually filled with families. In addition to well-known Middle Eastern fare like hummus, falafel and stuffed grape leaves, this casual restaurant serves a host of Yemenite specialties, the most conspicuous of them melawach, a thick pan-fried pancake the size of a medium pizza, which is best shared; a bit greasy, it’s also absolutely addictive. Order your melawach plain or with a choice of a dozen toppings. Such satisfying food almost makes up for the lax service. The kitchen is kosher, but you don’t have to be to enjoy the food here.
