Masti Fun Indian Street Eats Restaurant Review:
Bright colors and a contemporary sense of design craft an inviting casual dining space. Bring friends to share the appetizers, as the portions are rather large for one person. For example, the dumplings (momos, more Nepalese than Indian) supply a half dozen plump house-made beauties stuffed with either vegetables or chicken, to be dipped into a quite spicy sauce if desired. Some of the selections present a collision of cuisines: the "dogs" are skewered meats wrapped in bread, and the "burger" is chicken tikka masala on a bun. There are classic dosa, however, and thali. Don't fail to consult the extensive list of specials of the day for some interesting options. For dessert, go for the ras malai, a dish of pistachio-dusted cheese-like patties in sweetened milk that is well paired with a cup of hot cardamom or ginger tea. Indian beers --- their accessibility is hit or miss --- are more interesting than the wines, although a listed Gewürztraminer, the ideal wine with Indian fare, frequently is not available. To avoid disappointment, bring your own wine as the corkage fee is only $15. The kids’ meals include a thali.
