THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Maya Restaurant Review:
This odd-shaped but upscale space in a SoMa high-rise is tinted peach and decorated with striking silver accessories and a wall of flowers in mounted vases. Memorable flavors here are crafted with surprising elegance, given the city’s reputation for fast, fresh, no-frills Mexican dining---this is not your typical neighborhood cantina, and the prices reflect that. Shrimp-stuffed chile rellenos are brightened with crème fraîche. The mariscada is a medley of sea scallops, mussels, prawns and clams served with black rice, and the mole poblano is a cut above. Good for corporate happy hours, parties, and power dining with spicy flair.
