THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mehek Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED In a city not lacking for good Indian food, what makes Méhék special? Yes, it can turn out a fine curry, and the kitchen takes such pride in its kebabs that it devotes a special all-you-can-eat night (Wednesday) just to them. The restaurant’s most noteworthy elements, however, are its location---right on the square in Fells Point, an otherwise Indian-free zone---and its serene California-contemporary look. The walls are a fresh pale green; filmy textiles decorate the walls; the furniture is blonde wood; and there’s a display case of Indian handicrafts for sale. Even the menu, a full-color affair that reads like a travel guide, is pretty. Like most Indian places, Méhék (which means “aroma”) also offers a bargain-priced lunch buffet. While buffet diners will miss out on seafood and lamb and those signature kebabs, not to mention the attractive presentation of the plated entrées, they will find a goodly assortment of well-prepared chicken and vegetarian dishes. Hot fresh naan bread is brought to the table.
