THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bleecker Street Restaurant Review:
A bustling restaurant with a prominent bar, vintage lighting and quieter mezzanine level, Bleecker Street is a lively local favorite with a versatile menu displaying some Southern influences. Perfect for sharing are fluffy, oversize hush puppies, though the jalapeño dip could use a bit more heat, or truffled fries. Pizzas, served on wooden paddles, range from traditional to contemporary, including one topped with caramelized onions and garlic, a slightly cloying fig jam, prosciutto and Gorgonzola. Modern takes on Southern-style entrées include Texas redfish en papillote while a New York steak with Chianti reduction complements an ambience slightly reminiscent of a supper club. A worthy side is the panko-crusted mac ‘n’ cheese laced with bacon and black truffles. Attentive, friendly service tends to smooth out the minor culinary deficiencies encountered here.
