Don’t let the location fool you --- this restaurant in St. Louis' toniest shopping center is home to some of its freshest, healthiest fare. Patrons eat or schmooze at the big bar or relax in the high-backed chairs and wait for what emerges from the wood-fired oven. A regal hamburger, topped with Amish blue and cheddar cheeses plus spiced tomato relish, is a standard, as are big, moist baby-back ribs and house-smoked shrimp. The savory goat cheese torte on mixed field greens is a classic among ladies who lunch, and the kitchen does fine things with vegetables and vegan dishes, emphasizing its strong commitment to area-grown produce. If more proof is needed, look no further than the seasonal fruit pies (peach is our favorite). The strong wine list comes in handy when shoppers need a midday boost.
