Chow Restaurant Review:
Quiet, family-oriented Lafayette has a hot-spot on its hands with Chow. This comfort food hub offers approachable, healthy American fare with Italian, Asian and Mexican influences. In towering grilled free-range-chicken BLT and Reuben sandwiches, pot roast, hearty chicken noodle soup, and mountains of spaghetti and meatballs, the meat is 100 percent organic. Organic produce shines in meal-size Cobb and sustainable prawn Louis salads and in seasonal starters and sides such as beet-fennel-grapefruit salad, wood-baked artichokes and grilled Brussels sprouts with apple. Breakfasts include a rib-sticking quinoa ragoût. Organic milk accompanies Irish oatmeal, enriches malteds and milk shakes, and energizes house-made desserts such as a Southern pecan pie studded with --- surprise! --- organic nuts. Some dishes are especially designed for kids. A tiny retail market and deli case is where locals can pick up take-out food alongside fresh vegetables, organic meats and specialty cheeses.
