THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Early World Restaurant Review:

Early World's name strikes us as particularly apt for two reasons. First, there's its popularity as a neighborhood spot that boasts, We Serve the Best Breakfast in Town, a claim supported --- if not conclusively proven --- by its generous omelets and other egg dishes, good made-from-scratch pancakes, thick french toast and crispy Belgian waffles, all available until 4 p.m. More powerfully, we're charmed by the way this comfortable coffee shop recalls a bygone era when dining out often meant slipping into a well-worn booth and chatting with a server who knew your family history and kept your coffee cup filled. Brentwood residents and other Westsiders, including a smattering of celebrities, are drawn by just that cozy familiarity, not to mention a varied selection of burgers, sandwiches (including a Philly steak sandwich with onions, green pepper and Swiss on a soft roll) and salads. Dinnertime choices range from chicken fajitas to roast leg of lamb served with rice and vegetables, shrimp scampi, and liver onions. A few basic beer and wine selections are available, and dessert includes pies and a homemade tapioca pudding.
