THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sage French Cafe & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
The self-trained chef Laurent Tasic moved to South Florida in 1998 and opened this affordable, friendly French country restaurant. Sage’s regulars line up for entrées like cassoulet L'Armagnac (a Gascon casserole of duck, garlic sausage and white beans), flavorful daube de boeuf with mushrooms and prunes, puff pastry-wrapped salmon coulibiac, shellfish-packed bouillabaisse, and a simpler but creamy bourride (enriched with aïoli, enlivened by lemon), plus salads, daily-changing homemade pâtés and crêpes. Most renowned are Tasic's duck dishes: traditional crisp-skinned roast duck with raspberry-honey sauce, or more nouvelle medium-rare magret. The wine list is predictable but adequate in variety, though occasionally distressingly Americanized (white Zin, etc.), and very well-priced.
