THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Metisse Restaurant Review:
When Columbia students and far Upper West Siders get a hankering for Gallic cuisine, this is their go-to spot. The seasonally changing menu offers such starters as goat cheese, roasted eggplant, tomato and black olive tapenade in a crusty pastry. Entrées range from a simple whole red snapper marinated in lemon juice and ginger, then grilled, and served with cold potato salad, plantain, white rice and a small salad to coq au vin with bacon, mushrooms, broccoli, asparagus and parsley-garlic Swiss cheese mashed potatoes. In addition to such French staples as chocolate mousse, Metisse sometimes serves Caribbean sweet-plantain dumplings for dessert.
