THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Michi Restaurant Review:
Don't judge a building by its bricks. This simple, whitewashed brick building along a strip-mall-like segment of a commercial roadway doesn't offer much in appearance, but son and father team Michael and Sheen Michi Shin deliver big on flavor. A cult favorite of Silicon Valley executives, Michi offers more than 150 Americanized sushi rolls, and the chefs often create "special rolls for special people" --- extravagant combinations of fish, sauces, nuts, vegetables, tobiko, jalapeños, garlic and a gamut of other ingredients with titular nods to loyal patrons and industries. Prices seem high at first glance, with rolls often $20 or more, but the portions justify the tab --- some rolls use a pound of fish, and each is a meal on its own for most. Michi's house-cured salmon is the best we've had in the area. Creative salads such as the Shin seafood salad with assorted sashimi and wakame, and more traditional Japanese fare fill out the menu.
