Nepenthe Restaurant Review:
A drive down scenic Highway One should include a stop at Nepenthe for its views and American cuisine. While the smoked sockeye salmon is a breakfast treat, the Ambrosia burger (ground steak and top-secret sauce highlighted by mayo and relish) never fails to delight. Dinner specials change nightly and warm specialty drinks such as the Nepenthe C & C (Chartreuse and Cognac) take the chill out of the fog. (Designate a driver, though, as the trip back to Carmel or Monterey can be daunting, even if you're sober in broad daylight.) End on a sweet note with the triple berry pie.
