Noble Rot Restaurant Review:
Noble Rot offers a view of Portland’s skyline as well as a 300-plus-selection wine list with 30 to 50 by-the-glass choices and rotating daily flights. As for the Pacific Northwest cuisine, owner Leather Storrs and chef Joseph Hickey source ingredients as locally as possible and many are grown on the restaurant's expansive rooftop garden. Sample one of the vegetable dishes, perhaps a combination of fried Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, carrot, ginger and miso vinaigrette. Assorted panini pair components such as ham, cheddar and mango chutney, or grilled butternut squash with caramelized onions and goat cheese. Heartier dishes may include a medley of three squashes with corn, onions and farro; leek-stuffed trout with carrot spätzle; and steak frites with herb aïoli. For dessert, indulge in the salted nut and pretzel bar with caramel ice cream and chocolate sauce. Happy hour runs from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. with a varied, frequently changing menu, and it often coincides with a sunset.
