THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ola Restaurant Review:
Ola, which takes its name from the Hawaiian word for "life," is located just off the sands of Kuilima Bay at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore. Owner and executive chef Fred DeAngelo has been involved in the Oahu dining scene for more than a decade, with previous positions with at Palomino and Tiki’s Grill & Bar. (As if the life of a chef wasn’t busy enough, he also co-publishes with his wife, Cheryl, the magazine Real Word, which highlights Hawaii’s visual and literary talent.) DeAngelo takes pride in using local products in his contemporary Hawaii Regional cuisine, including Island fish, all-natural beef from the North Shore Cattle Company, Hau'ula tomatoes, Hamakua mushrooms and Kahuku corn. We recommend starting with the fresh and flavorful ahi poke dressed with sesame soy sauce. Main dishes might range from misoyaki butterfish to five-spice braised short ribs to the signature togarashi salmon. End your meal with the Tahitian vanilla crème brûlée.
