Oporto Café Restaurant Review:
Chef/owner Richard Di Virgilio based this charming wine café on those found in his mother’s homeland of Portugal. Cozy and romantic, with a long bar and row of banquettes, Oporto would fit in well in any European town. On offer are cocktails and more than fifty wines, along with the largest selection of Portuguese wines in Houston. Lunch brings a plethora of panini, wraps and salads, many made with local cheeses, Spanish jamón and grilled mushrooms. There are plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian dishes; we like the baked Brie and figs plate. For dinner, try the seafood or the bife à Portuguesa, a beef cutlet served with spicy potatoes and a fried egg. During the daily happy hour, order a refreshing pisco sour and the salmon and smoked goat cheese crostini.
