THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Osteria di Tramonto Restaurant Review:
Proving the suburbs are every bit as sophisticated as their downtown neighbor, Rick Tramonto’s Osteria di Tramanto shows off the chef’s culinary prowess with great success. The swanky dining room, complete with vaulted, beamed ceiling, fills with an all-ages crowd that knows good food and is willing to pay the price. The menu is rustic Italian: braised monkfish osso buco, wood-fired pizzas, short ribs with parsnip purée---you get the idea. But it’s his specials, which showcase seasonal ingredients and skills culled on trips to the Italian countryside, which are particularly appealing. A first course of buttery burrata cheese gets topped with salty, sinful caviar, while homemade tagliatelle is garden-fresh with spring garlic, pancetta, fresh peas and grated Pecorino Romano. We can’t get enough of the Prince Edward Island mussels bathed in an artisanal pepperoni broth. For dessert, try partner Gale Gand’s warm strawberry-rhubarb crostada with house-made ricotta gelato and a zigzag of basil purée. Afterwards, head to RT Lounge, a showy spot with all-Italian wines.
