Pappas Bros. Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
Lots of restaurants showcase their wine collections in beautiful cellars, but at Pappas Bros. they hang their meat in a wood trimmed refrigerator right up front for all to see. This is a steakhouse and they don't want you to forget. The setting is a cross between a luxury liner and luxury train from a time when travel was glamorous, a setting that inspires one to toss off witty bon mots while tossing back gin martinis. And they manage this without coming off as a hokey, theme restaurant. All its beef is prime and is dry-aged on premise, producing superb steaks that are silky, marbled and richly flavored. And they are cooked to perfection exactly as you request under superheated broilers. If it's surf you want, live Maine lobsters, fresh oysters and shrimp are on the bill. Be sure to order the skillet potatoes with caramelized onions and bacon and the creamed spinach on the side. Smooth service, an excellent wine list and knowledgeable sommelier, and an alluring atmosphere put Pappas up with the best steakhouses anywhere.
