Sprinkles of Americana and a wide-open kitchen (count the bobbing toques) evoke a homey, laid-back feeling at this casually sophisticated spot. However, white tablecloths and elegant tableware raise the luxury to another level. The signature appetizer is awesome in the correct sense of the word: pastrami salmon, salmon bacon and smoked salmon with warm corn blini. The roast saddle of lamb and the brioche-crusted cod are also remarkable. The California-intensive wine list features many reasonably priced selections. The Sunday dim sum brunch trots out an exciting array of goodies that are an Americanized version of that great Chinese tradition.
