This tiny and unglamorous spot is the DC area’s only Egyptian restaurant we know. The menu, though, is large. It’s a quiet lunch destination, which becomes livelier toward the end of the week when the kitchen gets into full gear. Dinners on weekends attract diners who love culinary adventures. We recommend the howoshi, a richly spicy mixture of ground lamb stuffed inside a large pita. If you want variety, order an assortment of appetizers, mezze style. Or if you have a robust appetite, sample the fetta leb lahma, a rice, bread and lamb dish that Napoleon apparently loved.
