THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pesce Restaurant Review:
Polished mahogany walls, a roomy zinc bar and an old school-style green and white penny tile floor do their part to contribute to the warmth, the comfort and the charm of this Russian Hill seafood restaurant. Italian-born chef-owner Ruggero Gadaldi, formerly of Etrusca, has created a menu of Venetian cicchetti, or small plates. These cicchetti are easy to like with about 20 dishes that blend together well and mix nicely with an approachable wine list. We suggest the fennel and arugula salad topped with lemony vinaigrette and thin shavings of Parmesan which pairs nicely with the smoked salmon bruschetta studded with capers and enriched with horseradish cream. Warm salt cod and white bean spread comes in a terra-cotta dish. Swordfish is rolled around a piquant herb mixture then rolled in green olives and capers. Desserts are simple: fruit with cheese, chocolate cake, sorbet with berries.
