THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Phillips Seafood Restaurant Review:
An offshoot of the area’s old-timey seafood restaurant, this Phillips takes over the dining area of a Rockville hotel, offering very traditional seafood dishes at reasonable prices. Probably best known locally for its crab cakes, Phillips also offers fresh fish and shellfish. While many of the preparations avoid frills and fanciful sauces, several---such as the crispy coconut shrimp and the salt-and-pepper calamari---are very contemporary dishes, and worth ordering. Not all the fare is seaworthy, however: at lunch, the kitchen laces the menu with two hamburger variations. At dinner, the menu is balanced between hearty seafood entrées, several red-meat dishes, and a replete entrée chopped salad bowl for light eaters. And dinnertime means a choice of oyster appetizers and a mammoth chilled or hot seafood platter starter.
