Pho Bac Sup Shop
A next-generation Vietnamese soup spot, both literally and figuratively.
Pho Bac Sup Shop Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: Co-owner Yenvy Pham and her sisters grew up in their parents’ pho shop, not 50 feet from this newer, trendier version. A neon sign jokes of the “Phocific Northwest,” and a natural wine shop, owned by a friend, takes up one edge, opposite a glassed-in atrium. Blonde-wood tables and chairs framed by white walls and green plants evoke the classic pho shop while maintaining a modern feel.
Likes: Pho; creative tweaks on the dishes.
Dislikes: Service can be disjointed.
Food & Drinks: The food toes the same line, with a Flintstone-esque bone jutting out of a beef pho. Unfortunate cookie mix marries broken fortune cookie pieces with peanuts, chili oil and black sesame. Desserts keep it simple, with a Vietnamese coffee affogato and the cream puff (with chocolate sauce, if desired). Beyond the well curated wine from the corner, the cocktail menu offers creative Vietnamese-inspired drinks, including a whiskey shot with pho aromatics, served with a chaser of pho broth.
