The Pit Room Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: In an old house in the Montrose neighborhood there now resides one of the best barbecue joints in Texas. Michael Sambrooks and pitmaster Bramwell (Bram) Tripp have really spruced up the place and turned it into a charming spot with reclaimed brick and wood interiors and large-scale cow photos.
Food & Drinks: Cow (beef) figures heavily on the menu, but smoked chicken, turkey, pork and sausage are available, too. Drop in to pick up a pound or more of beef short ribs, brisket, pulled pork or venison sausage, or stay for lunch. If you bring friends, order the “Feast,” multiple meats and four sides that feeds four to eight folks. Also choose from sandwiches and brisket tacos topped with shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa. Chips and queso, Texas chili, coleslaw and elote (Mexican corn) round out the offerings. If you have a sweet tooth, check out the cherry pie and house-made ice cream sandwiches. Expect plenty of cold beer and cocktails.
