Polka Restaurant Review:
The décor of this tiny restaurant, situated within a few blocks of both Eagle Rock and Glendale --- but not officially in either area --- is simple, befitting its strip mall locale. Alcohol isn’t allowed, so don’t arrive expecting to pair your Eastern Bloc food with vodka. What distinguishes Polka is good, hearty Polish food at fairly reasonable prices. Our favorites include the golabki (cabbage stuffed with seasoned pork and chicken), pierogi (especially when the dumplings are filled with savory sauerkraut and stewed mushrooms), and bigos (a hunter’s stew combining sauerkraut, mushrooms, Polish sausage and tender chunks of pork).
