THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ponzu Restaurant Review:
Next time dinner in the theater district fits the bill, try out Ponzu with its stylish décor and serpentine-shaped room. The plush lounge area is perfect for sipping on signature cocktails (the bar is open late and it has a list of infused sakés) and enjoying small plates exploding with pan-Asian flavor, like steamed Manila clams with Chinese sausage and Chinese black bean sauce, Vietnamese prawn salad and lobster dumplings with sesame-soy dipping sauce. For dinner, the menu encourages family-style dining. Thai seafood stew is brimming with lobster, shrimp, clams and scallops in a rich green coconut curry. Chicken is roasted in a chile-lemon grass marinade and served with Szechuan peppered Chinese long beans. Beef short ribs arrive with a golden curry enriched with peanuts and pineapple. For dessert, try the Asian pear tart with ginger ice cream or the Ponzu banana split with candied macadamia nuts.
