THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Qube Restaurant Review:
In a modern restaurant resembling an orange and green space station, we got “Qubed” --- which is to say, we dove right into the restaurant’s “Qubed Sets.” These are innovative three-course menus developed around three ingredients, and each served three ways. Who can complain about seafood trios of salmon (sushi-style, caviar-style with Yukon Gold blini, and tartare on kaiware salad); prawns (in Thai red curry, a pineapple stir-fry, poached in a mousse with wine, cumin and makrut); and chocolate mousses (white, milk and dark)? Not us. The menu offers more subdued concoctions pleasing to any Northwest diner fond of Asian culinary touches. There’s miso-marinated cod, nori-wrapped wild king salmon, and much more. Lunches at Qube also show off the kitchen’s culinary artistry with delightful presentations, but serving sizes and flavors are both muted, or at least that’s how we regarded our orders of chicken yakitori and udon noodles served in a mushroom broth. At Qube, the Qubed Set is the thing --- and it’s all the better paired with wine, saké or (best of all) cocktails.
