THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Rare Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:

This West Village outpost of the Lexington Avenue ground-meat mecca attracts young, well-groomed professionals who come to lounge in the regally colored main dining room, sipping overpriced wine and beer. The wider-than-you'd-expect menu includes soups, salads, fried calamari and chili, but diners come here for one thing: burgers. There are several different (and ambitious) types from which to choose: The Mexican (spiced bean spread with chipotle purée), pesto-mozzarella, and the M & M (a burger flambéed in whiskey and topped with caramelized onions and apple-smoked bacon). But most burger lovers agree that the plainer the burger, the better. Nonetheless, if the line is too long at Corner Bistro, you may find a table here. Weekend brunch offers a “brunch burger” of half chorizo and half beef, as well as the Kobe beef omelet, and you can eat to the sounds of live jazz.
