THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Red Lantern Restaurant Review:
Big Night Entertainment Group is behind this sexy spot in Boston's South End. Asian-influenced décor includes hundreds of red lanterns hung from the ceiling and strung by seashells from Vietnamese beaches. There is a 20-foot door that leads to a private bar area while the main dining room has a sushi counter, wok station and open kitchen. Start with a Sapporo on draft or the Grass Fed Mule, a twist on the Moscow Mule made with lemongrass-infused vodka. If you like a little heat, kick things off with the Cantonese-style salt and pepper calamari with fresh chilies. For entrées, we suggest the tender Mongolian skirt steak and massive bowl of chicken lo mein. There is also a selection of sushi rolls, including classics and unique offerings. Sweet endings include roasted banana bread pudding and the rich signature chocolate cake. Look out for weekly specials like $1 rolls in the lounge Tuesday through Friday from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
