THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Restaurant St. Michel Restaurant Review:
The ivy-covered Hotel St. Michel is the belle of the Gables, a beautiful country inn in the center of town. The restaurant is an opulent little Old-World charmer that's been pulling a passionate, loyal crowd for years, even more so since it had a fire a few years back. It's a pure Gables clientele, power-lunching during the day, and snuggling down in the evening in the romantic dining room. The poised service warrants respect. St. Michel offers hearty American fare with a French twist, and not the other way around, as might be expected. Among the very American entrées are a sturdy, grilled veal-rib chop and a pan-roasted fillet of Chilean sea bass with a heavenly light cassoulet of seafood and fragrant saffron. Rich crêpe creations light up the lunch menu, and weekend brunches are renowned---though really more for ambience than great fare.
