THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sazon Latin Fusion Restaurant Review:
Chef-owner Claudia Kuhui’s Sazón resides at the busy intersection of Washington Boulevard and Centinela Avenue. From the street, the small restaurant is hard to find, sandwiched between a comic book store and hardware shop. But the interior’s red and purple hues contribute vibrancy, and Kuhui can usually be found in the open kitchen. Crispy empanadas may be stuffed with myriad options, most notably shrimp or spinach and mashed potatoes. The signature Sazón chicken breast is filled with sweet plantain paste and topped with a smoky red mole sauce. A hearty bacon and shrimp concoction, mofongo de camarones, has a dense stew-like texture, complemented by both mashed and fried plantains. Dessert is limited to flan and bread pudding. Beer and wine options are sparse.
