THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Screening Room Restaurant Review:
When it first opened, The Screening Room was intended to be a multi-use space where fine dining would mix with cinéma vérité. Though the private screening rooms are still available for rent, and the décor perpetuates the cinematic theme, these days the restaurant and adjacent revival movie house still operate more or less independently (though the $30 prix-fixe dinner-and-a-movie deal is still a winner). Chef Mark Spangenthal consistently turns out excellent American fare with Mediterranean accents. His lemony fried artichokes with Parmesan cheese are worth sitting through a day-long Ingmar Bergman retrospective.
